Jonathan Cao

Mr. Cao is honored to serve in his tenth season as Director of Bands at Vines High School. The Vines Band is an award-winning performing group, earning honors at UIL Marching and Concert & Sight Reading. In addition to concerts and contests, the Vines Band performs regularly at community events and venues, including the State Capitol Rotunda.

Prior to his time at Vines High School, Mr. Cao taught the Eagle Band at Haggard Middle School, as well as teaching private lessons, sectionals, and marching band at various programs around the Dallas-Ft. Worth Metroplex. He serves as a regular clinician and leadership instructor nationally, as well as at the at the Bands of America Summer Symposium, in addition to consulting several programs throughout the state. In his spare time, he enjoys traveling, cooking, and serving as the Deacon of City Engagement at his church.

Mr. Cao was honored to represent Vines High School and Plano ISD as the 2020 Secondary Teacher of the Year, and he hopes to use his platform to advocate for the importance of music education and public education.
